The image of speedy motorcycles growling their way through open roads certainly does call to mind a sense of rebelliousness; no one is contesting that. That feeling of rebelliousness, however, is no decent excuse for stupidity. Accidents happen, there is no contesting that, but they need not be as damaging as they could be.

A face helmet is not an uncommon thing to find in the arsenal of any responsible rider. Despite what the name suggests, face helmets actually protect the entire head from any possible impact, and they do very little to deteriorate the wearer’s orientation while riding; the problems of slight discomfort are easily outweighed by the far greater advantages of safety. There are different kinds of face helmets, such as half face and flip face, each attempting to meld perfectly the rider’s safety and ease; what does not differ though is the fact that wearing face helmets while riding is a hard law in many states, no different from seat-belts. Usually made from a careful blend of poly-plastics, face helmets are designed to reduce facial and total head damage without being incredibly heavy. There is a basic construction to face helmets in general: a hard shell on the outside lined with comfort padding on the inside; such a construction has been seen to be the most effective riding protection.
With prices ranging from 30 USD to 350 USD, the endless number of face helmets available in the market today requires some considerable discerning for the responsible rider. It cannot be denied, however, that face helmets remain to be the wise choice for any motorcycle rider—safety overtakes its monetary equivalent.
